Guangzhou Daily | Sun Zhiqiang, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference: Accelerating the high-quality development of the robot industry

time:2023年02月22日
Sun Zhiqiang suggested that we should focus on domestic alternative applications in the mid and high-end fields, give full play to China's institutional and market advantages, work simultaneously on both the "demand side" and the "supply side", accelerate the iterative process through market applications, accelerate breakthroughs in robot application technology and solutions, and create a number of application scenarios and demonstration cases with independent intellectual property rights to achieve domestic alternatives in the mid and high-end fields.

"Currently, the whole country is vigorously promoting high-quality development and leading the manufacturing industry, which I believe is a great opportunity for manufacturing enterprises." Sun Zhiqiang, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, is the chairman and president of Guangzhou Ruisong Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., and is also a "veteran" in the field of industrial robots. He suggested that the country introduce more favorable policies to accelerate the high-quality development of the robot industry.

The robot industry is booming under policy support

"The field of high-end equipment is a strong foundation for supporting the development of scientific and technological innovation, especially industrial robots in the field of high-end equipment. Industrial robots are an indispensable and important presence for carrying intelligent manufacturing." In Sun Zhiqiang's view, in the past few years, the country has issued a lot of industrial support policies, and the entire robot industry has developed rapidly and is increasingly participating in global competition.

He admitted that although domestic robots have made great progress, there are still some shortcomings. Currently, there are problems in the domestic robot industry that are small and scattered, and mostly concentrated in low-end applications. In mid to high-end applications such as rail transit and aerospace, the "last mile" of domestic robot replacement needs to be broken through.

He believes that at least two aspects of issues need to be addressed to achieve localized substitution in the medium and high-end sectors. On the one hand, domestic robots have a latecomer disadvantage, and product performance needs to be further improved; On the other hand, the demonstration application of domestic robots in mid to high-end key areas is not enough, leading to a lack of confidence in domestic robots among some key users. Currently, China's robotics industry is autonomous and controllable, and accelerating the domestic substitution of robots in mid to high-end fields can better promote the high-quality development of China's manufacturing industry.

"From raw materials to key components to robot bodies, to system technology solutions and the entire application scenario, it is difficult for a single enterprise to complete the robot industry chain. The relevant departments should consider the implementation of application scenarios in an important position, so that the robot industry can have a targeted implementation of application scenarios, so that robot manufacturing enterprises can more confidently invest in research and development." Sun Zhiqiang said.

Create a batch of application scenarios and demonstration cases in the medium and high-end fields

"Robots are the pearl at the top of the manufacturing crown.". How to make this pearl shine? Sun Zhiqiang suggested that we should focus on domestic alternative applications in the mid and high-end fields, give full play to China's institutional and market advantages, work simultaneously on both the "demand side" and the "supply side", accelerate the iterative process through market applications, accelerate breakthroughs in robot application technology and solutions, and create a number of application scenarios and demonstration cases with independent intellectual property rights to achieve domestic alternatives in the mid and high-end fields.

On the one hand, give play to China's institutional and market advantages, and promote the domestic alternative deployment of robots in the "demand side" of mid to high-end key areas. Organize and implement the application verification project of domestic robots, select key enterprises or projects in key industries, establish demonstration lines for alternative application of robot localization, effectively fill in the application gap, and boost the confidence of domestic robots in the application of mid to high-end fields.

On the other hand, integrate the "supply side" advantageous resources of the domestic robot industry chain, select and establish a number of joint research teams involving domestic robot system solution providers, ontology manufacturers, core component suppliers, scientific research institutions, and other parties, strengthen collaborative supply capabilities, specifically address the "demand side" difficulties and pain points in key areas, form solutions for domestic robots in key areas, and promote their application. Relevant national departments are working together on both sides of "supply and demand" to provide preferential security policies such as funds, talents, and taxes for joint research teams and application verification projects, and promote the smooth implementation of application demonstration projects.

He also suggested that the China Robotics Association should be established as soon as possible, organize the establishment of a collaborative innovation mechanism of "industry, university, research, and financial policy", organize and promote the implementation of major research topics and key projects in the robot industry, and accelerate the high-quality development of China's robot industry.

China has become the largest application market for industrial robots in the world since 2013, with the market scale exceeding 50% of the global market for the first time in 2021. It is understood that the Japanese Robotics Association (JARM) was established in 1971, the American Robotics Association (RIA) was established in 1974, and the German Robotics Automation Association (DGR) was established in 2000. However, up to now, China has not established an industry organization in the field of robotics. He suggested that the Chinese Robotics Association should be established as soon as possible.
